I give to the library because I get so much from the library.
We've had a rock bottom kind of year, but one of the positives that accompanies rough times is noticing the good stuff we've been taking for granted. Right up there with family, friends, neighbors, first responders, healthcare and essential workers is a renewed appreciation for the library. It has been a steady beacon for me. Whether it's an audio book through Libby or a movie through Kanopy or WiFi access or a curbside book or a virtual event, the library has faithfully served. It is a great equalizer in an often unequal society. So why do I give my money and time to PGCMLS? Because I receive so much. If you've also been touched by anything the library offers, please consider giving back and giving forward. No matter how large or small, your donation provides an ongoing rippling effect of benefits for our community.
"It was a wonderful program, and that's why I donated this morning. Thank you so much!!"- Kathy
"Libraries play an extremely important role in our community. This has been even more evident during the current COVID restriction period. Even though the branches were/are closed, PGCMLS made electronic reading materials, videos, and other forms of entertainment and education available through online sources. They continued their “Ask a Librarian” services. They redirected funds from purchasing hard copy books to electronic books to provide wider access to these materials. They also provided parking-lot accessible WIFI services to citizens who needed them."- Ann
"Happy to be able to give, even if it is just a little! Thank you for hosting this virtual event! "- Rachele
"Libraries are so vitally important to our communities and have always been ahead of the curve in the way they serve our citizens. An investment in libraries is an investment in an educated populace."- Michelle

“I was seven years old when I received my first library card. I felt like I had the key to the world. It opened the doors to my love for books and helped me achieve my academic goals. Years later, I have a Bachelors in Psychology and Masters in I/O psychology, but I wouldn't have made it without the help of PGCMLS gives to the Latino community. Thank you for your help!”- Anonymous

“I wanted you to know how proud you should be of these two ladies who represent so well the PGCMLS. They are a true representation of employees who love their jobs and because of them, I have not felt alone and separated by COVID. Instead, I was able to connect with some new kindred spirits and smile in the midst of a pandemic. Please accept my most sincere appreciation for their talents and especially for sharing their time with strangers.”- Tracye
